History of fnc
Frome Netball Club was established during the 1950/51 season by June Barnes and six other members of the Frome community. Their journey began in Len Mill’s Youth Office, where they were given a ball and a set of bands (bibs!), laying the foundation for what would become a thriving Club. The founding members initially trained at Oakfield Road School (now Oakfield Academy), a venue that remains the Club’s home 74 years later. In those early years, the team travelled to locations such as Taunton and Yeovil, paving the way for the Club’s growth and success today.
June Barnes continues to play an active role at Frome Netball Club, regularly attending training sessions and events. In recognition of her outstanding contributions to netball, June was awarded an MBE in 2012. She remains a constant source of inspiration for everything we do at Frome Netball Club.
